JAI 11Plus Tutoring FAQs

The Answers You Need

What options do I have for my child for attending sessions?

I do offer 1-2-1, paired session and a small group session.

I’m interested in enquiring the available options for my child. How do I do that?

You can register here and I’ll respond as soon as I can via email or by phone.

What happens at the time of initial assessment?

Initial assessment, in the form of a set of questions given to your child at my office room, will help me understanding where your child current level and to plan the lessons accordingly. Parent and child can select their suitable type of session-1-2-1, paired or group and the available slots.

What are the term dates for this year?

Please check the details here.

What if I cancel any scheduled session?

In cases where I need to cancel a scheduled session, I’ll try and inform you as soon as I’m aware of such situation. Also, I’ll either refund the relevant amount or re-schedule to an alternate suitable time for all.

What if my child is unable to attend a session?

If the child is absent for any of the scheduled sessions, fee will be non-refundable. Homework and any additional information will be emailed to registered email addresses of absent children. However, I understand that there can be exceptional circumstances and can be discussed directly on a case by case basis.

Will there be any homework given to my child?

I believe giving homework lets the child improve on applying the knowledge gained in the sessions and put their skills into practice. Homework notes will be sent after every session by email. It would be great if you can follow up on homework with your child to complete before next session.

Where can I find the fee details?

When should I pay the fee?

What is the notice period if I decide to cancel my child’s place?

Fee is paid in advance each term. Either you can decide not to pay for the next term or continue attending the sessions until end of the term.

What role will you be playing here?

Please note that the Kent Test for grammar schools is a journey to be taken together by all three of us i.e., myself as a tutor, yourself as a parent/carer and your child. I’ll be able to guide your child from current state to a state where your child will be comfortable attempting the Kent Test for entrance to grammar schools. Please note that the payment of fee is in no way to be considered or treated as a commercial agreement between you and me There will be no terms and conditions in small font here like in commercial agreements!
I’m here to help you and more importantly your child with understanding what’s involved in Kent Test and help with planning for the same.

will there be any change in the fee structure?

Fees will be reviewed by me before the start of the classes in September. You check my updated fee in 11+tutoring & fee section here.

Groups Sessions FAQs

Commonly asked questions

How many students will be there in a small group?

Group size varies from 3 to 5 children depending on the group dynamics.

What if I want my child to be in a different session to current one?

If for some reason you think that your child needs to be moved to a different group or session type, I’m happy to discuss personally and we shall do what’s best for your child.

Will the group size always be same?

Not always. As you can imagine, there can be some movements in between for various reasons and group size can vary between 3 and 5.

Should I be worried about other kids in my child’s group?

I’m sure you must be thinking in the best interest of your child, but please leave that to me  I’ll be reviewing the group dynamics periodically and will make the adjustments accordingly.

How are the groups formed?

Initial assessment will be considered whilst forming the group. However, other factors like the availability of a place, suitable time for both sides etc. will also be considered.

Are there any circumstances where my child’s place will be reviewed?

As of now, I can only think of a scenario, particularly relevant for small groups sessions, where I may have to consider another session type for your child or even request you to explore options outside for tutoring due to having any adverse impact on the group. I understand that it’ll be a difficult decision for me and I’ll obviously discuss with you in advance, so that the child will have a smooth transition
